Formerly known as Songshan Lake Academy, Merchiston Academy School is a specialized institution for science and arts with an international focus. In 2026, the academy underwent a comprehensive upgrade, integrating advanced British educational philosophies to systematically reconstruct its curriculum framework, faculty structure, student development support system, and teaching facilities. This transformation formally established Merchiston Academy School, aiming to provide students with world-class international education without leaving China.
The school has developed an A-Level curriculum integrating Chinese and Western educational strengths, aligned with students' developmental needs. Emphasizing interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving skills, the program cultivates deep learning habits and competencies. By systematically adopting British educational principles and restructuring both curriculum and faculty support systems, we deliver globally competitive education without requiring students to study abroad.

Merchiston Academy School (MAS) originates from the renowned British private school Edinburgh Merchiston Castle School (MCS), which boasts nearly two centuries of educational heritage. As one of Merchiston's overseas campuses, MAS enables children to connect with the world and access international teaching environments and resources without leaving China.
Simultaneously, it introduces an authentic British boarding management model, blending it with traditional Eastern moral education principles to create a boarding environment where 'life is education.' Equipped with a professional team of boarding tutors, it oversees students' daily life management, behavioral habit cultivation, and physical and mental health guidance.

Seamless Transition from Compulsory Education to Avoid Academic Discontinuity Risks: Focusing on the academic development needs of Chinese students, we establish a curriculum transition system that seamlessly connects with the nine-year compulsory education stage. Strictly aligning with core knowledge points, competency development objectives, and learning habit requirements of the compulsory education stage, we achieve a smooth transition from compulsory education to international curricula through pre-enrollment diagnostic assessments, customized transition course modules, and dedicated academic progress tracking mechanisms.
