As the quintessence of British elite education, the advantages of a great Scottish curriculum, the inheritance of MCS and excellent Chinese cultural, MAS builds upon the superb work of the school community in Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh and Merchiston International School, Shenzhen and makes a brand-new start. Our students have unrivalled opportunities to travel to and study at MIS in Shenzhen and MCS in Edinburgh.
2. World-class teaching staff:
Extensive support service is provided by our form tutors, school counselors and university counselors. Learning from MIS’s educational philosophy and experience, MAS will not only recruit excellent expatriate teachers and bilingual staff, but also invite well-known athletes, artists, scientists, journalists, economists and many more to visit us and make a variety of lectures and presentations.
3. Innovative collegiate system:
Instead of a traditional schooling system, a collegiate system is applied to MAS where students are assigned a college to learn the content of courses that fit them best. The academy is divided up into a series of different colleges, including Languages, Life Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology, Art, Science, PE, Music and Drama and Creative Design.
4. Exiting academic events and resources:
- We offer IGCSE/A Level subjects and international preparatory courses. Academic attainments obtained at MAS are globally recognised, helping students gain admission into universities all over the world.
- We establish strategic cooperation with high-tech companies and research institutions to nurture talents in artificial intelligence and computer science.
- We create close partnership with famous art colleges and institutions to teach international art courses, paving the way for art students to study abroad.
- We provide opportunities for students to attend top-ranked competitions at home and abroad as well as internship training in prestigious international organisations.
5. Customised university application support:
Led by Ms Marion Muetzelfeldt (former Deputy Head of MCS), with expert supervision from Ms Elsa Jian, our university counselling team helps students build upon their positive experiences to gain admission into universities all over the world. Our Merchistonians know which country, university, and course is best for them and how to maximise their chances of acceptance.
6. Pleasant boarding life with family atmosphere:
We provide a top tier boarding service, with two to three students sharing a dormitory. Our restaurant offers both Chinese and Western cuisines while we strictly follow the procedures of food safety and quality control. The academy is the second home of students, teachers and parents.
