Executive Head of School
Nationality: British
Born in Birmingham UK, Benjamin was schooled at King Edward VI Camp Hill grammar school before reading Philosophy at the University of Manchester. After a year teaching English in Japan, he joined the Teach First programme, teaching in a secondary all-girls school in London for two years. He then joined the leadership team on the Teach For India initiative, first as a Programme Manager in Delhi and then a Senior Programme Manager in Chennai. Returning to London in 2013, he worked for 10 years at the highly successful London Academy of Excellence as the Deputy Head (Pastoral and Co-Curricular), including a 6-month stint as Acting Headteacher. The school regularly sends more than 30 students each year to Oxford and Cambridge and is ranked one of the top colleges in the UK. In 2020 Benjamin completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and from 2018 to 2023 Benjamin was the Safeguarding Governor and Chair of the Curriculum and Standards Committee at Kingsford Community School, a Confucius Classroom School.
Benjamin believes in the importance of an all-round education that nurtures all children to achieve the best of their potential. He is particularly passionate about developing student leadership and combining values-based education with high academic rigor. Benjamin has worked closely with the top independent schools in the UK, including Eton College, and through this experience has developed a clear vision of outstanding pastoral and boarding education that has the power to transform the lives of young people. His work on wellbeing saw his previous school recognized as one of the top three schools in the world in the World Best Schools Prize.
Benjamin is a keen runner and enjoys his training for marathons. He is married with one young child.

A Canadian-Chinese educator, Dean Michael Wang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and furthered his studies in Law Enforcement at Seneca College in Canada. Drawing on his extensive experience studying and working abroad, he possesses a profound understanding of both Eastern and Western cultural nuances. He excels in fostering effective communication and collaboration within multicultural teams, bridging the gap between diverse perspectives.
As a distinguished educational expert with over a decade of experience in AP and A-Level academic management, and 10 years of leadership as a Dean of Academic Affairs in international schools and international departments, Dean Michael Wang offers a deep and insightful perspective on global education. He is dedicated to exploring the seamless integration of international educational philosophies with China’s traditional K-12 system, creating a unique learning experience that equips students with a global mindset while preserving their cultural roots.
Dean Michael Wang boasts a solid foundation in science and engineering, with exceptional expertise in Mathematics and Physics. He has 10 years of frontline teaching experience in a bilingual environment, specializing in AP Calculus, AP Physics, A-Level Mathematics, and Further Mathematics. He has developed a rigorous yet inspiring teaching methodology that challenges students to reach their full potential.
Throughout his illustrious teaching career, over half of Dean Michael Wang’s students have gained admission to the world’s top 30 universities. A testament to his mentorship is a student he guided in 2021, who achieved a perfect score in 6 AP subjects, 5 A*s in A-Levels, and a TOEFL score of 113. This outstanding student was admitted to the prestigious Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, to study Mathematics, becoming the sole student from Hebei Province to receive an offer from Cambridge that year.

Jon is an educator from the UK, with a BA (QTS) in Primary Education from St. Martin’s College, Lancaster. He is currently further expanding his expertise with an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management from Portsmouth University. Throughout the last 18 years in Shanghai, Jon has held leadership roles at esteemed International and bilingual schools. As Head of Primary, focusing on curriculum development, systems, assessment, and data at YCIS, Jon implemented strategies to align the curriculum, integrate innovative teaching methods, and develop data-driven assessment and reporting procedures.
Jon’s educational philosophy centres around the whole child and fostering holistic student growth, emphasising character development, service learning, and cultural awareness. He advocates for embracing innovation in classrooms while ensuring a strong foundation for nurturing global citizens of the future. Beyond his professional commitments, Jon cherishes quality time with his wife and two young sons, is a passionate golfer and enjoys exercise and reading to help provide an important balance of both personal and professional growth.
Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer
Hilda Huang is a seasoned executive in international education and financial management, having served as Executive Principal, Chief Financial Officer, and Founding Consultant at Shenzhen Huituo School, Aisha International Education Group, and several top international schools. She has extensive experience in founding preparations, governance system development, and operational management for international schools, possessing a systematic and pragmatic understanding of sustainable development in international education. She also focuses on second-generation development for high-net-worth families, introducing educational resources, and incubating innovative educational programs, all with a commitment to creating long-term value.
Prior to entering education, Hilda worked at PwC in IPO auditing, risk management, and consulting. She served as an Asia-Pacific executive at major state-owned enterprises and Fortune 500 leaders, participating in IPO advisory and market capitalization management for multiple companies. She excels at integrating business and finance, risk control, and organizational culture development.
Hilda possesses extensive international experience, having worked and conducted research in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland. She currently serves as an Executive Director of the Greater Bay Area Education Development Association, and is a co-founder of the American International Student Exchange Foundation, Swiss Science Center, and Melbourne University Fan Ao College. She actively promotes international educational exchange and cross-sector collaboration. Hilda believes a robust and forward-thinking governance system is the cornerstone of quality education. She is committed to creating long-term value for schools and students through professional, prudent, and humanistic management.
Deputy Head of Seniors (Pastoral)

Katie is an enthusiastic educator of Humanities. Having completed her Bachelor’s degree in Theology and her Master’s degree in World Religion from King’s College London, Katie’s predominant academic interest is the study of human behaviour and interaction. Katie enjoys teaching and exploring life’s big questions and wishes for students to thrive as critical thinkers of the world.
Katie completed Teach First’s Leadership Development Programme in 2020; she gained her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from University College London’s Institute of Education. Katie is in her fifth year of teaching; before teaching at Merchiston, Katie taught at a secondary school in South London for 4 years. Here, she gained extensive experience as Head of Religious Studies, Head of Year 12 and 13, and as Key Stage 5 Oxbridge and Medicine Coordinator. Katie has a keen interest in the UK university pathway system, in particular UCAS and Oxbridge Early Entry admissions, having successfully supported multiple students achieve places to study at institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, and Edinburgh University to name a few.
Katie is passionate about building positive and supportive relationships with students, enjoying pastoral responsibilities to support the personal development of the whole child.
Katie is a fluent Welsh speaker having grown up in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. She is a keen traveler, having visited 5 of the 7 continents so far.

Graduated with a master's degree in social psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Richard holds a mental health teacher qualification and an international NCDA career counsellor qualification. In the past five years, he has served as an A-level psychology, mental health and college guidance teacher, and has rich experience in school psychology and college counselling. In terms of educational philosophy, he encourages students to develop critical thinking, find their own goals and continue to work hard.
