Lauren attended the University of Winchester studying a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education with a specialism in English. During that time she worked in many different schools across the South of England which expanded her knowledge of teaching across the year groups. It was through this experience that her love for teaching languages (French and Spanish) and Arts grew and she taught subjects after school, such as Cooking, Art and Drama. During her 3-year degree she also gained a TEFL qualification to support her understanding of teaching children whose English is not a first language. Lauren is a trained First Aid Officer was a designated First aid officer in many schools. She started her teaching career after she graduated in Jersey in 2019 at a private boys school before securing her first international teaching position in 2020 in Qatar.  Lauren is proud to join Merchiston as she is particularly interested in learning about the history of Merchiston, as well as her personal history to the ‘Chalmers’ house, and upholding the strong values of a Merchiston Education. Further to her educational interests, Lauren loves learning new things and is very much looking forward to learning Mandarin during her time at Merchiston. Whilst the weather might not be same in Shenzhen, Lauren is an avid skier during the winter and a qualified kayaking instructor during the summer.
