Mr. Doran, who was born in Coventry, England, is equally proud of his father's Irish heritage. He started out in education teaching in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. During the next 30 years, Mr. Doran served as the Head of Chemistry and Head of Science at different A-level institutions in Coventry and Solihull, England.
Since 2019, Mr. Doran has taught chemistry and been actively involved in the administration of student housing at an international school in China.
Rugby has always been a big part of Mr. Doran's life; he even played professionally at the local level while he was in secondary school and at the regional and English national levels when he was in college. Even now, Mr. Doran spends time with his students teaching them the fundamentals of rugby and inspiring them to play for fun. Mr. Doran also takes pleasure in cycling, scuba diving, and reading, particularly works of history and science.
There is a strong scientific streak in Mr. Doran's family; his wife has a physics degree from Oxford, his son is majoring in mechanical engineering, and his daughter is finishing up her GCSEs.
